IWC Aquatimer Chronograph Edition “Jacques-Yves Costi Expedition”

Surely you too have heard the name Jacq-Yves Cousteau at some point in your life. You may not immediately remember in what context, it was a problem for me for a while, but a short trip to Wikipedia reminded me that this is a famous French oceanographer, inventor and diver. And precisely because of his preoccupation with the seas and oceans and his importance to the modern way of diving, IWC decided to team up with the Cousteau Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of marine life, to create the unique IWC replica Aquatimer Chronograph Edition “Expedition Jacques” as part of its Aquatimer collection -Yves Cousteau”, as a tribute to his memory.

The round case of this watch is made of brushed stainless steel. The surface treatment of the case is completed by a combination of ground surfaces with polished accessories. So this watch, although luxurious, is also ready for demanding daily use even underwater.

The chronograph buttons, signed crown and automatic helium valve stand out prominently from the case. As you would expect from a diver’s watch, IWC fake watches cheap equipped the 300 with a screw-down crown as well as a helium valve. The latter enables equalization of overpressure in the helium atmosphere during decompression – and therefore a real practical use for the most demanding diving.

The bezel is internal, rotatable, and a patented system protects it against unwanted rotation. It’s simple yet very effective. The pointer of the bezel covers slightly arched with a double anti-reflective coating with a diameter of 38.5.

The dial is glossy and has an amazing dark blue, almost black color, complete with metal plastic indices. It features a day-of-the-week aperture and date and three sub-dials, lightly recessed into its surface. The first sub-dial, on the far left, shows the passing seconds, and this hand only stops when the crown is pulled out. Apparently, the seconds hand serves the function of the chronograph, as well as the two remaining sub-dials. The top for minutes and the bottom for hours. Of course, the name of the company must not be missing on the dial, tastefully and unobtrusively displayed just above the date. The dial is complemented by distinctive polished hands – these are always perfectly legible.

The hour markers, hour and minute hands and parts of the bezel are equipped with a luminescent color that, unusually, has two colors, making it really easy to read the time even in difficult lighting conditions. Even the logic of this color differentiation is adapted to the destination for diving.

The movement ticking at the heart of the device is the in-house 79320 25 bearing stones and automatic winding. The power reserve is 44 hours, so not huge, but certainly sufficient. The caliber is hidden behind a full, steel pumpkin with slightly beveled edges, on which, in addition to information about the watch itself, you will also find a stylized image of Jacques Cousteau.

The watch comes on a black rubber strap with a steel tab clasp subtly emblazoned with the company name. The strap allows for a quick change, where it is not necessary to remove the links in order to exchange the strap for another one that better suits your taste or current needs. In addition, this attachment makes the band seem embedded in the body of the watch at first glance, which is unusual and definitely interesting. The total weight of the watch is a reasonable 178 grams even with this strap.

In addition to the Expedition Jacques-Yves Cousteau watch, the IWC sell replica watches Aquatimer Chronograph edition includes six other models, each unique in its own way. So everyone really chooses. In my opinion, the Expedition Jacques-Yves Cousteau watch is suitable for both sports and daily wear and is therefore a really smart investment, even if you are not going to the depths of the sea.
